The Heart Behind the Stories
Hello, and welcome! I'm so glad you're here.

My mission is to foster a love of reading and empower every reader to reach their full potential. As an educator, I have seen firsthand how the right tools and engaging experiences can transform a child's confidence and success as a reader. That passion inspired me to create Literacy by Design.

I have more than 30 years of experience working with children, including nearly two decades in special education. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Education. I am also trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach and spent many years teaching reading with multisensory methodology to support diverse learners. I am currently enrolled in the IMSLEC-accredited Practitioner Level 1 training and tutoring program to further expand my expertise in structured literacy instruction.

I am a proud Wisconsinite and have spent most of my life in this beautiful state. I enjoy exploring Wisconsin's diverse landscapes—from scenic hiking trails and peaceful lakes to charming small towns and vibrant cities. In my spare time, you'll likely find me cooking healthy meals, visiting farmers' markets, biking, kayaking, gardening, or spending time with family.
Most importantly, I am a mother, daughter, sister, significant other, and proud Mimi. These roles have shaped who I am and continue to inspire my commitment to helping children discover the joy of reading.
